Esther Pane

Co-founder of Pane's Restaurant

NORTH TONAWANDA —  

Esther Pane, age 88, co-founder of Pane's Restaurant, passed away on December 27, 2012, peacefully at the Cleveland Clinic, of natural causes. Esther was born in Conflenti, Italy.
With her family at the age of seven, she immigrated to the United States in 1932 and settled in Lockport. She met her husband, Peter Pane, Jr., and together they settled in North Tonawanda and raised a family consisting of seven children. She loved gardening, decorating and spending time with her family. Peter passed away in 1988.
With her husband, she enjoyed turning a small tavern into an acclaimed local eatery, employing many people and making many friends. She loved cooking for people; it was her pride and joy. After retiring from day to day operations in the 1990's, she still took an active role, acting as a mentor to her son. She offered guidance and support to the family up until the time of her death.
Mother of the late Kenneth J. Pane and John J. Pane. Proud and loving mother of Peter Pane III, Margaret L. (Ronald) Jamulla, Rosemary Werth, Thomas J. (Liza) Pane and James K. (Elizabeth) Pane. Dear grandmother of John and Jason (Tina) Jamulla, Daryl and Tyson Werth and Angela (John) Greene, Nicole and Jennifer Pane, Krystina (John) Sullivan, Peter and Amanda Pane and Natalia Pane. Great-grandmother of Penni and Lukas Jamulla. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends received by the family on New Year's Day, 5-8 PM and on Wednesday from 12-3 PM and  5-9 PM at the Brunner Funeral Home (692-3841), 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday morning at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery will follow.
