Richard K. Cain

HENDERSON, NV — Richard K. Cain, 82, of Henderson, NV, passed away on January 21, 2013, at Delmar Gardens, Henderson.

Born May 1, 1930, in Dublin, IN, he was the eldest son of Blanche and Herbert Cain. Richard graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City, IN, and then attended and graduated from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH in 1953.  The following two years Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955 and began his career in Construction Management.

In 1958 he accepted a position with Uhl, Hall & Rich Engineers in Niagara Falls, NY, where he met his future wife, Mary Shaghoian. They married on October 24, 1964, in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Niagara Falls, NY. After their marriage, Richard spent the next 34 years in the heavy construction industry, with the final 25 years employed by Bechtel Corporation, San Francisco. Richard and Mary arrived in Henderson in 1990, with Richard working for Bechtel Corporation at McCarran International Airport. In 1998 Richard retired, and he and Mary remained in Henderson. Mary passed away on January 21, 2007.

Richard was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Philip. He is survived by a brother-in-law, Carl (late Louise) Amato of Niagara Falls, NY; and  sisters-in-law, Margo (Fred) Martin of Rutland, VT;  Joanne (late Ralph) Shaghoian of Lewiston, NY; and Lillian (late Louis) Arzivian of Henderson, NV. He is also survived by                                              one niece/goddaughter, Cynthia (George) Spizzirri of Lewiston, NY; as well as several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Richard will be buried privately at Palm Valley View Memorial Park located in Las Vegas, NV.  Please send any donations to the American Cancer Society.
