NIAGARA FALLS —
Jane (Figura) Sturmer was called to rest on March 16, 2013 at age 95. She died at McCauley Residence, surrounded by her grandchildren. Jane was born on September 7, 1917 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Stanley and Bernice (Kolodziej) Figura. She attended Holy Trinity Elementary School and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. She was an athlete playing basketball for the City of Niagara Falls, winning a championship. She worked for both Simon and Schrack Oil in the accounting department. Jane was a lifelong member and loyal volunteer at Holy Trinity RC Church. She served as mother's club president and on many committees, including pre-Cana conference, financial accounting and Eucharistic ministry.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Claudia (Dennis) Bermingham of Buffalo; grandchildren, Kristin, David, Daniel and Suzie (Jeff Kiblin) Bermingham. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Elton Sturmer, who passed away on February 26, 1998; her great-granddaughter, Sophia Grace Kiblin; and her siblings, John, Elizabeth, and Ted.
Private funeral services will be held at the Holy Trinity Cemetery Chapel, Lewiston, NY, with Bishop Edward M. Grosz officiating. Donations in memory of Jane's great-granddaughter, Sophia Grace Kiblin, may be made to the Dialysis Unit at Women and Children's Hospital, 219 Bryant Street, Buffalo NY 14222 or to Niagara University, Lewiston, NY 14109.
