Larry Geracitano, Sr.

NIAGARA FALLS — Larry J. Geracitano, Sr., 94, of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Monday, October 22, 2012, at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Francesco "Frank" and Marianne "Maria" (Mittica) Geracitano.

Larry was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant with the 143rd Replacement Battalion from April 25, 1942, until his honorable discharge on December 17, 1945. He was stationed in Africa, Italy and the Philippines (battle/campaign) and was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with One Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and an Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon. On March 19, 1949, he married Anne T. (Shaghoian) Geracitano in Niagara Falls, NY. She predeceased him on December 7, 2007. Larry owned and operated Empire Billiards for 50 years located on Falls Street, Main Street and later on Pine Avenue, all in Niagara Falls. In his earlier days he worked as a cabinet maker. Larry was a gifted pool player and very handy in various areas. He loved spending time with his  grandchildren.

Larry is survived by two sons, Frank Geracitano and Larry (Victoria) Geracitano, Jr., both of  Niagara Falls, NY; two grandchildren, Larry Geracitano III and Jenna Geracitano; two sisters, Elvira (late Thomas) Carella and Rose (late Benjamin) Critelli, both of Niagara Falls, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers, Tresa (late Joseph) Costa, Katherine "Kay" Geracitano, Mary (late Joseph) Riggi, Dominic (Barbara Ann of Niagara Falls, NY) Geracitano and Frank Geracitano, Jr.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 27th from 1-4 PM at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON            NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, followed by a funeral service at 4 PM, concluding with military honors. Flowers are graciously declined.
