Sarah Turco

NIAGARA FALLS —  

Sarah Turco, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Guiseppie and Giacomina (DeFranco) Zabaldo.
Sarah attended local schools and on September 23, 1944 she married Anthony Turco at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Turco predeceased her in 1992. Sarah worked in the cafeteria at DuPont Chemical Co. and later as a cook at her brother Patsy's restaurant, the Embassy Bar and also Macri's Palace. She and her husband relocated to Las Vegas, NV where she lived for three years until returning to Niagara Falls, NY. Sarah was a member of the Ten Women "TW" Club. She enjoyed cooking and was most noted for her meatballs and cutlets. Sarah was well-known for her obsession with leopard print items which she had a passion for dating back to the early 1950's. In her leisure time she liked going to the casino and especially enjoyed playing video poker. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Sarah is survived by three daughters, Marie Appoloney of Niagara Falls, NY, Jacqueline Genovese and Janet (late Robert) DiGregorio, both of Grand Island, NY; ten grandchildren, Anthony, Maria (Edward Smith) and Ronald (Allison) Appoloney, Gina (David) Allen, Louis (Liberty), Ralph (Terri) and Gregg (Brittany) Genovese, Joseph, Marc (Sandy) and Anthony (Lani) DiGregorio and was predeceased by her grandson, Robert DiGregorio. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Charles (late Jennie) Zabaldo, Patsy (late Mae) Zabaldo and Salvatore (late Mary) Zabaldo; as well as two sisters, Mary Zabaldo and Loretta Zabaldo.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 23rd at 11:00 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane R. Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY.
