Faustina Fusco-Evangelista

NIAGARA FALLS —

After a lengthy and happy life, lived always around and together with her beloved family on January 26, 2013, Faustina Fusco-Evangelista left us quietly, after a brief illness in Lucerne, Switzerland. Faustina was born in Morcone, Benevento, Italy on April 30, 1916, to the late Pasquale and Vittoria (Ciampone) Fusco.
Faustina lived and raised her family in Fragneto Monforte, Italy until 1957. On August 15, 1957, she left her beloved country and hometown, together with her three children, to join her husband, Donato, who had immigrated to Switzerland the previous year in search of a better and brighter future for the entire family. Their dream came true and they have lived there ever since.
Faustina was predeceased by her husband, Donato, on January 7, 2001. She is survived by a brother, Tommaso Fusco, Rome, Italy; a sister, Giovannina Gammorta, Buenos Aires, Argentina; two daughters, Rosa Maria (Andrea) Corbo of Loccotondo Bari, Italy, Ada Immacolta (Carlo) Cotichini of Ruessbhl, Lucerne, Switzerland; and a son, Aldo (Lillian) Evangelista of Grand Island, NY (owner of LaHacienda of NY Restaurant); seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews living around the world.
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we bid a tearful farewell to our mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
A memorial Mass for the repose of her soul will be celebrated by Fr. Paul M. Nogaro, Pastor, on Tuesday, February 26, at 10:00 AM at Saint Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, 2100 Baseline Road, Grand Island, NY.
