NIAGARA FALLS —
Rose M. (DeSantis) Greco, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012. Born in Calabria, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Rizzo) DeSantis.
Rose came to Niagara Falls, NY, with her family at the age of five. She attended local schools including St. Josephs School and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. On June 6, 1942, she married Frank J. Greco at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. Rose began her career as a retail clerk at the former Kresge's Department Store and Jenss Department Store both in Niagara Falls, NY. Afterwards she went on to work at K-Mart as a service desk clerk until her retirement in the mid 1990's after twenty-five years of service. Rose was a longtime member of the former St. Charles Borromeo Church and St. Joseph's Church, both in Niagara Falls. Rose loved to laugh with family and friends and was a devoted homemaker to her family. To know Rose, was to love her.
In addition to her husband of seventy years, she is survived by three children, Sandy (Sally) Greco of Youngstown, NY, Frank (Nancy) Greco of Novi, MI, and Annette (Gregory) Issing of Chantilly, VA; four grandchildren, Julie (Thomas) Carella, Jill (Joseph) Palermo, Fredrick (Deborah) Greco, and Danielle (Tim) Ferriter; eleven great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Emily and Megan Palermo, Morgan and Aidan Carella, Peter, Daniel, Paul and Abigail Greco, and Nicholas and Colleen Ferriter; one sister, Sarah A. (late William) Patti of Niagara Falls, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph (Ellen of Maryland) DeSantis and Samuel (late Kay) DeSantis.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 1st from 3 - 8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on January 2nd at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
