James Louis Mang

NIAGARA FALLS —  

James Louis Mang, formerly of Niagara Falls, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at his home in Newfane. He was 72. He was born in Niagara Falls on October 15, 1940, a son of the late Louis and Alberta (Kandt) Mang.
He attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle High School. He entered the United States Army in 1960 and served until his honorable discharge in 1963.Mr. Mang then worked as a machinist at Keller Technology in Tonawanda, retiring after 40 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors including gardening, and for 25 years he owned and operated Mang's Live Bait in Newfane and enjoyed his interaction with repeat customers of many years. Mr. Mang was a loving man who dedicated much of his life to caring for his wife, Susan, who was afflicted with MS.
Mr. Mang is survived by his three children, Julie (Robert) Blatz, Jeffrey (AnnMarie) Mang and Jason (Marci) Mang; eight siblings, Robert (Cathy) Mang, Carol Manley, Daniel (late Carol) Mang, Patrick "Butch" Mang, Patricia (Sissy) Mang, Judy (Mike) Karch, Mary (Brian) Sykes and Michael (Renee) Mang. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan (Lyons) Mang, in 2009.
There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Mang's behalf to National MS Society - Upstate New York Chapter, 1650 South Avenue, Suite 100, Rochester, NY 14620.
