Paul L. Trane

NIAGARA FALLS — Paul L. Trane, 81, of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at his residence, under the care of Niagara Hospice and his family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Leo and Pearl (Maule) Trane.

Paul was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School where he was a member of their marching band, and had the honor of performing at the inauguration of President Harry S. Truman. During the Korean War, Paul served in the U.S. Navy from January 8, 1951 until his honorable discharge on November 30, 1954. On January 19, 1953, he married Mary Louise (Watt) Trane in Key West, FL. Mrs. Trane predeceased him on January 22, 2006. Paul was employed at the former International Paper Company and Stauffer Chemical Co., until they closed their operations in Niagara Falls, NY. He later worked as a pipefitter and welder at the Carborundum Co., also in Niagara Falls, NY, and retired in 1989. Paul was a member and served as past commander of the American Legion Frederick Cadille Post #1664 in Niagara Falls, NY. In his leisure time he enjoyed gardening and was well-known for his tomatoes.

Paul is survived by five children, Pearl (late Joseph) Lankin, Leonard Trane, Anthony (Judy) Trane, Daniel (Pamela) Trane, all of Niagara Falls, NY, and Patricia Vendetti of Canada; 13 grand-children, Phyllis (Carlton) Williams, Sandra Mosher, Joann (Roland) White, Allison Lankin, Paula (Joseph) Lewis, Daniel Trane, Jr., Michael Venditti, Demi Palmer, Brandi Palmer, Seana Trane, Trisha Trane, Joanna Trane and Shannon Trane Stewart; 17 great-grandchildren and was predeceased by two great-grandchildren, Kayla Barnett and Logan Trane. He is also survived by two brothers, Philip (Sheila) Trane of Wheatfield, NY and James (late Marie) Trane of Lewiston, NY; one sister, Mary Ann (Bob) Genovese of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank Trane and David Trane.

There will be no prior visitation. Private funeral services and burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY, will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements by M.J.
