KATHLEEN MARIE SHIELDS

(Youngstown) - Kathleen Marie Shields, age 50, of Youngstown, NY, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 in Niagara Hospice House, in Lockport, NY, after a long illness.

Kathleen was born September 23, 1957, in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Elizabeth (Gizzi) Sheehe and the late Joseph Sheehe. On October 5, 1985 she married Bruce A. Shields in Elmira and they have resided in Youngstown since 1988. Kathleen was Assistant to the Dean of Arts & Sciences of Niagara University for the past 10 years.

She was a Communicant of St. Bernard’s RC Church in Youngstown. Kathleen’s family was the most important part of her life and she tirelessly dedicated herself to them.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her mother, Elizabeth (Gizzi) Sheehe of Elmira, NY; her beloved daughters, Kimberly and Sara, both of Youngstown, NY; and a brother, Gerry Sheehe of Bethany, CT.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 23rd at 10:00 AM in St. Bernard's RC Church, Hinman & Second Sts., Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating. (Please assemble at church.) There will be no prior visitation. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Following the Mass, there will be a reception at the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co., 625-3rd St., Youngstown. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those wishing to remember Kathleen in a special way, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 or to the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation, 129 Hawkins Rd., Maryland, NY 12116. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston, NY.
