Convenience store robbed at gunpoint
The clerk at a convenience store on the 1900 block of Niagara Street told police Sunday night that he was robbed by a man wielding a shotgun.
The clerk said he was sitting behind the counter about 6:50 p.m. when the man entered the store, with a bandanna covering most of his face and put a shotgun to the clerk’s head, demanding money, stating, “You know what this is!”
The suspect was carrying a white cloth bag and grabbed about $400 from a cash register. He then left the store, stopping outside to pull down the bandanna and hide the shotgun. The clerk said he then calmly walked down Niagara Street, past a man walking his dog and turned onto Second Street.
Police searched the area but could not locate the suspect.
The suspect was described as a black man, 6-foot-1, 200 lbs, wearing all black. Police found the dog walker and interviewed him. Surveillance video from the store is also being sought

• ASSAULT: Falls police were called to a store on the 1600 block of Main Street about 9 p.m. Sunday for a report of an assault. A 27-year-old man told officers he was beaten and robbed at an Eighth Street apartment by two men. The victim suffered a laceration to two fingers on his left hand and complained of pain to his head, but refused medical treatment. Officers said he was uncooperative during the investigation but they eventually learned he had come to the Falls from Buffalo with a woman and was brought to the Eighth Street apartment. The pair started to have sex, he said, and two men entered the apartment and began beating him, taking $300 in the process. The man then fled the apartment to the store and called police. Officers found the apartment but no one came to the door when they knocked and neighbors reported hearing a disturbance but didn’t want to get involved. Officers noted the victim wouldn’t cooperate with them to take photos of his injuries.
