Niagara Falls

•  ARREST: A 44-year-old Falls man was charged with DWI, avoiding an intersection and reckless driving. Marchello Gildersleeve, 527 24th St., was arrested at 3:32 a.m. Saturday after police observed the van he was driving traveling at a high rate of speed in the 500 block of 20th Street. Gildersleeve lost control of the vehicle, got it stuck in a snow bank and fled the scene. Police followed the suspect and charged him shortly after.

• BURGLARY: Police are investigation a robbery in the 1300 block of Michigan Avenue between 9:50 am and 3 p.m. Saturday. An 87-year-old women said she has been living outside of the city and came home to check on her property. She found a broken window, a number of missing items and damage to the interior of her house. The missing items were unknown at this time and the damage is valued at $1,250.

• LARCENY: Police are looking into a theft that took place sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday. A 46-year-old male said someone entered his vehicle while it was parked in the 8500 block of Frontier Avenue and stole a bottle of prescribed hydrocodone pills. Police have no suspects.

• DRUGS: Police charged a 19-year-old male with criminal possession of marijuana at 10:05 p.m. Friday. Police in an unmarked vehicle said they saw Marquis McTyre, 2041 Virginia Ave., blocking traffic in the intersection of 17th and Pierce Avenue. Officers approached the vehicle and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. McTyre admitted to having the drug in his possession and a search of the car turned up several small bags.

• ARSON: Police responded to the 1900 block of 15th Street to investigate a vehicle arson. A 44-year-old 16th Street resident said her car had been parked on Cleveland Avenue and 15th Street for more than week and when she returned to the vehicle the interior was burned causing more than $3,000 damage.

• CHARGED: Police arrested two women after they were caught shoplifting from a business in the 1500 block of Military Road. Video surveillance caught Michelle Currie, 35, 1332 98th St., Apt. 2, and Marissa Evrard-Stine, 24, 357 Tremont St., North Tonawanda, placing numerous items in their purses. The items were valued at $264.29 and they were charged with shoplifting and trespassing.

North Tonawanda

• DWI: Jennifer M. Kroening, 24, 6207 Walmore Road, Sanborn, was charged at 3 a.m. Saturday with DWI and speeding after police pulled her over at Ward and Ruie roads. Her blood alcohol content was measured at 0.15 percent following a breath test. Kroening was released on her own recognizance.

Sanborn

• GRAND LARCENY: A Lewiston woman reported Friday that her wallet containing credit cards and driver’s license was taken from her purse while she was in the computer lab on Thursday in the Niagara County Community College library. The victim canceled her credit card and was issued a form for her license.

Wheatfield

• CHARGED: Kevin A. Schlitz, 17, 3473 Stevenson Court, North Tonawanda, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana Friday. Deputies conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling east on Captains Way erratically. According to the report, the vehicle nearly hit three children playing near the roadway where there is a posted speed limit 15 mph. The patrol detected an odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a clear plastic baggie containing marijuana under the driver’s seat and a clear plastic baggie containing 19 green pills, identified as Klonopin. The patrol also found one glass smoking pipe in the center console. Schlitz was taken to the Niagara County Jail, where he was held in lieu of $500. Schlitz had two passengers in his vehicle who were driven home.
