Pair charged after benefit card sold
New York State Police arrested a man and a woman Friday after they say the woman sold the man her state benefit card.
Troopers stopped David Etherton, 30, on Friday on Beattie Avenue for a traffic violation and found he had a benefit card belonging to Stephanie Jones, 20, in his possession.
After investigating, troopers said Etherton had purchased the card, which had a balance of $84, off of Jones for $40.
Police arrested Etherton, of Rebecca Drive, Williamsville, and Jones, of Nichols Street, Lockport, charging them both with second-degree criminal use of a public benefit.
