NIAGARA FALLS —
Police are investigating a possible arson to a vehicle Thursday in the 1800 block of Pierce Avenue. Upon arrival, police found the car completely engulfed in flames while parked next to the victim’s garage. Falls firefighters arrived and put the fire out and a detective was called to the scene. The nearby garage was also damaged.
• BURGLARY: An unknown man made off with a television and a laptop computer in a burglary Friday morning. Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Eighth Street at 1:33 a.m. and were met by a male victim who told them he returned home at 8:30 p.m. and found an unknown black male exiting the building. He attempted to speak with the man, but the suspect turned his face and walked away. When the victim went inside his apartment, he noticed the door had been forced open and the television and laptop were missing. Police said the victim was uncooperative and did not want to fill out a report or have further police assistance. The neighbors had also called police because their apartment was burglarized as well.
• LARCENY: A man reported to police that sometime between 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday, someone smashed the window of his 1997 Chevy Suburban while it was parked in the 1000 block of 13th Street and caused $1,400 in damage. It appears the suspect removed parts of the heater and air conditioner controls from the vehicle’s dashboard. Nothing else was reported stolen.
• ARREST: Thomas L. Carter Jr., 19, 2322 Elm Court, was charged at 3:25 a.m. Thursday with second-degree menacing, second-degree harassment and criminal tampering. No further information regarding the arrest was provided.
