Canadian man charged with
drug smuggling
A Brampton, Ontario, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Buffalo for attempting to smuggle Ecstasy into the United States.
Rawle Arlington Younge, 53, was charged with importing a controlled substance. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a fine of $1 million or both.
The charges stem from an incident at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge on Feb. 19.
During a secondary inspection, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered tens of thousands of Ecstacy pills packaged inside the driver and rear passenger doors of a vehicle driven by Younge. Officers seized more than 18,000 Ecstasy pills along with more than 52,000 pills containing “BZP” (benzylpiperazine), another controlled substance similar to Ecstasy.
