Cops follow bank robber leads

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office continues to follow up leads in an attempt to capture a man who robbed the of Bank of America Branch at 2700 North Main St. in Newfane about 12:30 p.m. this past Wednesday.

A light-skinned black male entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. The man displayed no weapon and eluded a law enforcement dragnet.

The suspect was described at 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8 inches tall and weighing between 170 to 180 pounds. He was wearing dark colored pants, a black leather jacket, a black beanie/skull cap and black sun glasses.

"There are still leads being pursued," Investigator John Wick said.

Tree limb falls on car

A tree limb came down on a car on Lincoln Avenue and Pine Street Wednesday afternoon but no other wind damage was reported by the Lockport Police.

Wind gusts of 56 mph were registered in Niagara County on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

THEFT: The manager of a store on the 750 block of Builders Way told police a man grabbed a tool kit from the shelf, ran out an open back door and into a waiting car about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. The estimated loss is $300.

MARIJUANA: Anthony Scott Giannone, 16, 4260 Ide Road, Wilson was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Tuesday. According to the report, a Niagara Academy School resource officer found Giannone with a marihuana cigarette and a plastic bag with green leafy vegetable matter. Giannone was given an appearance ticket and was released to the custody of his mother after being placed on suspension.
