NIAGARA FALLS —
Two arrested in Nabisco burglary
Two Falls men are behind bars after cops caught them inside the former Nabisco plant on Rainbow Boulevard.
Police said they received a call of motion sensors going off inside the building in the 800 block of Rainbow Boulevard at 1:12 a.m. Monday. Officers responded to the call without communicating on police radios because they believed burglars have been using scanners to eavesdrop on police as they answer burglary calls.
Inside the building, officers located three duffel bags containing a large quantity of tools, bottled water and soda and a police scanner. They also found $1,500 worth of cut copper pipe.
Police then found Guillermo M. Martinez, 32, 625 Third St., in the boiler room of the building and Gregory Paul Davidson Jr., 26, 448 10th St., hiding on top of duct work in the building.
Davidson surrendered to police, at gunpoint. Martinez fought with officers as they took him into custody.
Both men are charged with third-degree burglary, attempted petit larceny, second-degree criminal mischief, possession of burglar tools and unlawful possession of a radio device. Martinez was also charged with resisting arrest.
Officers said the burglars cut through a fence around the property and then pried boards off a window to enter the building.
Teen charged with weapon possession
A Falls teenager was arrested Monday afternoon, after Roving Anti-Crime Unit officers found him walking down Niagara Street with a loaded shotgun.
Ronald Charles Swanson, 16, 461 22nd St. lower, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
RAC officers said they were driving in the area of 19th and Niagara streets at 5:34 p.m. Monday, when they noticed Swanson walking funny and with what appeared to be a black handle coming out of his waistband. When officers stopped Swanson, they found he had a loaded Mossberg 12-gauge pistol grip pump action shotgun strapped to his leg.
