NIAGARA FALLS — Niagara Falls

• ROBBERY: Niagara Falls police are investigating a reported robbery Friday afternoon on A Street. A 57-year-old man said he was eating inside his home at 1:30 p.m. when an unknown man knocked on his door. After not answering the door, the victim said he heard a loud crash at the back of the home and discovered the visitor had broken a window and entered. The suspect, described as a white male about 5-foot-8 with dark hair and a medium build, reportedly told the victim he wouldn't hurt him if he sat down on the coach and didn't move. He then put on a pair of latex gloves and the victim said he could see blood coming from the suspect's hand. The suspect left the room and began rummaging through some dresser drawers, taking $50 worth of miscellaneous items, according to the victim. The suspect then told the victim to wait 30 minutes before calling the police.

• ARREST: Mary N. Dye, 72, 2245 Niagara Ave., was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. Police were dispatched to a hit-and-run accident at 3 a.m. Saturday and were told by a witness that a vehicle had struck a parked car and left the scene. The bumper and front license plate of the striking vehicle was left at the scene, allowing police to identify the vehicle and owner. The suspect's car was also leaking fluid, allowing police to track it to 24th Street and Cleveland Avenue, where they found the Dodge Intrepid stopped in the middle of the intersection with the keys in the ignition. Dye was in the driver's seat and failed several field sobriety tests before being placed under arrest, police said.

• CHARGED: A 40-year-old woman was issued a court appearance ticket for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for having hydrocodone pills that may not have been subscribed to her and were discovered in an unlabeled container. Police pulled a vehicle over in the 1700 block of LaSalle Avenue at 11:45 p.m. Friday for driving through a stop sign. While interviewing the driver, an officer noticed the passenger was attempting to hide a plastic container in the glove compartment. When asked what it was, the passenger responded "just my pills." The container had 12 white tablets and three pink tablets which turned out to be hydrocodone. The passenger said she had a prescription for the pills but was unable to provide it to the officer. The pills were not in the correct prescription bottle, which is a chargeable offense, police said.

• ASSAULT: The mother of a 13-year-old boy told police her son was walking home from Gaskill Preparatory School on Hyde Park Boulevard on Friday when five other students from the school harassed and assaulted him. The victim said the boys approached him and began yelling obscenities at him and then one of the juveniles punched him in the face. The victim was not seriously injured. The mother said she will contact school administrators about the incident.
