NIAGARA FALLS — WHEATFIELD

Fencing stolen from cemetery

A caretaker at St. John’s Lutheran Church cemetery on Niagara Falls Boulevard told Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies that sometime between Monday and Wednesday someone took two white vinyl fence posts and two pieces of 8-by-4 foot pieces of white vinyl fencing.

The fencing had been on the ground due to a recent wind storm. The estimated loss is $6,500.



LOCKPORT

DWI charges after accident

A Lockport man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a property damage accident on Robinson Road on Wednesday night.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was convicted in March on similar charges.

In addition to DWI, Ronald F. Arne Jr., 25, 527 Applewood Drive, was also charged with moving from a lane unsafely, a traffic violation.

Niagara County Sheriffs deputies said they responded to the Woodlands mobile home community around 5 p.m. where they found a yellow sedan had struck a tree on the south side of the mobile home entrance.

No injuries were reported. Arne was the only party involved.

Arne reportedly told deputies he was heading home and as he made the turn off of Robinson Road entering the Woodlands, another vehicle caused him to hit a tree. However deputies said while interviewing Arne, they observed him to be intoxicated, and not wearing a shirt or shoes.

Arne denied drinking any alcohol before driving.

Deputies said Arne failed several sobriety tests, but refused to take a Breathalyzer or alcohol chemical test, but agreed to take a blood test, and was transported by patrol offers to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport.

Deputies also added that Arne has a previous conviction from March 3 for driving while ability impaired by drugs in the Town of Pembroke, Genesee County.



ONTARIO

Disturbance ends in arrest

Niagara Regional Police have made one arrest after a melee Thursday a a Main Street bar in the Falls, Ontario.

Officers responded to a 911 call at Jovy's Bar, 6119 Main St., and discovered a fight, with weapons, at taken place.

Police arrested Alan Douglas Huggins, 60, of Niagara Falls, Ontario, on several charges including assault with a weapon and assault on police.

The investigation is ongoing by Regional Police Casino District Detectives and further arrests and charges are expected.

• ARREST: A Falls man was arrested and charged with drunken driving after a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Ontario Avenue at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday. Bruce Edward Kocur, 51, 6145 North Whitham Drive, was charged with driving while intoxicated and no seat belt.

North Tonawanda

• DISORDERLY: Michael J. McCormick, 64, 715 Oliver St., was arrested Thursday for disorderly conduct. He is being held in lieu of $200 bail.
