Three locals arrested at Petty concert
Thirty-four people were charged by Genesee County Sheriff’s Department deputies during the Tom Petty concert at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center Saturday — three were from Niagara County.
James R. Ross Sr., 49, and his son, James R. Ross Jr., 25, of Washington Street, Lockport, were each charged with disorderly conduct after they started fighting with a security guard, according to Genesee County dispatchers.
In addition, Christopher D. Wolf, 21, of Thornwoods Drive, Niagara Falls, was charged with petit larceny and resisting arrest after police said he stole beer from a concession stand inside the concert venue and struggled with deputies attempting to restrain him.

Family escapes burning car
An Attica family escaped their car uninjured after it burst into flames Saturday morning at Royalton-Hartland High School.
Deputies said the family was on their way to a sporting event when the driver noticed brake trouble that may have sparked the fire.
The driver pulled into the school to check his car when he noticed flames coming from under the hood.
Middleport Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene along with the Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies who helped extinguish the fire.

• ARREST: A Tonawanda teen was arrested after a shoplifting incident at a store in the 1500 block of Military Road on Monday afternoon. Amelia Jean Westervelt, 17, 383 Adam St., was charged with petit larceny and unlawful possession of marijuana. Westervelt is accused of taking more than $63 worth of merchandise from the store without paying for it. She also had a baggie containing marijuana in her possession when she was taken into custody.
• ARREST: A Maryland woman was arrested after she created a disturbance at the Niagara County office building in the 300 block of 10th Street. Jun Cao, 53, 21127 Silver Burch Lane, Germantown, was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 400 block of 18th Street. A 34-year-old woman told officers sometime between 9 and 10:30 a.m. Monday someone broke into her home by unknown means. The victim said a 32-inch TV, a Nintendo 64 games system, some video games and an AM/FM CD stereo system was taken.

• DWI: Earl E. Crouse Jr., was charged Monday with aggravated DWI. A report said deputies pulled over a suspicious vehicle on Niagara Falls Boulevard and found the driver, Crouse, was intoxicated. He reportedly told deputies he was “drinking all day.” Crouse failed all sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
