LOCKPORT — Flames ripped through a Northview Drive home in South Lockport, causing heavy damage and killed the family dog.
The fire started sometime before 3:45 p.m., which is when 911 calls started coming in to report heavy smoke coming from the upstairs of the home. The two adult residents were not at home at the time the fire took place, but the family dog did not survive the blaze. It took the South Lockport Volunteer Fire Company, Terry's Corners Volunteer Company, and the Rapids Volunteer Fire Company around five hours to get the flames under control. The Red Cross will be assisting the two adults.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimate has been made at this time.
