Niagara Gazette — Lockport ninth grader Gretta Dry put an end to Wednesday's double-overtime soccer contest at Niagara-Wheatfield with a goal at the seven-minute mark.

Carly Shamnk sent a through pass to Dry, who beat the outside defender and fired a shot over the goalie's head and into the far corner of the net.

The Lions led 1-0 at halftime on a goal at the 22-minute mark by Lauren Wager, assisted by Jill Golding.

Lockport went up 2-0 at the nine-minute mark of the second half on a goal by Golding, assisted by Dry.

The Falcons (6-2-1 NFL, 7-3-1 overall) cut Lockport's lead in half at the 15-minute mark on a goal by Emily Belote, then with five minutes left in the game, the hosts tied it on a goal by Melissa Smith, assisted by Danielle Chatten.

Lockport keeper Jayme Wadosky made 14 saves to earn the win in goal.

Grand Island 4, Niagara Falls 0

Jennifer Amato, Marcy Barberic, Madisyn Pezzino and Carly Bematovicz each scored to help the Vikings move to 6-1-2 on the season. Meaghan O'Leary made nine saves to earn the shutout while counterpart Malorie Garabedian managed to stop 19 shots for the Wolverines (1-9-1, 0-9-1 NFL).

Lew-Port 1, Ken West 0

Erin Fitzpatrick scored a goal on an Anna Carpenter assist and Erin Kinz earned the shutout on 12 saves as Lew-Port (5-4 NFL) took the league matchup. Hanna Post made 14 saves in net the Blue Devils (3-6 NFL).

Grand Island 4, Niagara Falls 0

Jake Dixon, James Rustowicz, Adam Cummings and Ben Terrington each scored a goal and Justin Figler earned the shutout for the Vikings (8-3, 7-2 NFL).

North Tonawanda 3, Ken East 4

Lorenzo Zaccaria scored twice and Jon Gardner and Pat Schroeder rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece in the Bulldogs (5-6, 5-4 NFL) win. The Lumberjacks fall to 2-9 overall and 2-7 in league play.

Ken West 1, Lew-Port 1 (F/OT)

Ross Suitor scored a goal and the Lancers (4-6-1, 4-4-1 NFL) outshot the Blue Devils, 22-8, as the two teams played to a draw.

Kyle Burns' 10 kills and Adam Heftka's 24 assists helped the Vikings (7-0 NFL) stay undefeated in league play. The Blue Devils fall to 1-6.

Nia.-Wheatfield 3, North Tonawanda 1

Dylan Bobernus had eight kills and Sam Mattheus also had eight kills to go with seven blocks to lead the Falcons (3-7, 3-4 NFL) in the 25-18, 26-24, 13-25, 25-21 league win. Austin Hayes chipped in 35 assists in the win while Ryan Fritz's seven kills and Joe Piotrowski's six kills and 21 assists led the Lumberjacks (3-4, 3-4 NFL).

Ken East 3, Lockport 2

Kyle Patterson's 17 kills and Michael Crawford's 35 assists led a back-and-forth effort as the Bulldogs (7-2, 5-2 NFL) came away with the 21-25, 25-18, 32-30, 16-25, 25-16 league win. The Lions fall to 5-2.

Niagara Falls 3 Lew-Port 1

Abby Edwards had 10 assists and seven kills and Toni Polk added 14 digs and five blocks to lead the Wolverines (5-4 NFL) in the 25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-19 win. Julie Law's 14 kills and three blocks topped the Lancers (3-6 NFL).

Grand Island 3, Ken West 0

The Vikings (9-0 NFL) remained undefeated on the heels of Lindsay Proctor's five aces and eight assists and Al Brown's 11 kills. Jessica Brownschidle also chipped in six kills in the 26-24, 25-9, 25-5 win. The Blue devils fall to 2-7.

North Tonawanda 3, Nia.-Wheatfield 2

Gabby Hanson led the way with 24 kills and 38 digs while Rachel Malone chipped in 14 digs of her own for the Lady Jacks (6-3 NFL) in the 25-18, 15-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-19 win. Bailey Salemi's eight kills led the Falcons (6-3).

Ken East 239, Ken West 256

The Bulldogs' Zach Jakes and Blue Devils' Brett Phillips split medalist honors with 1-over rounds of 37 at Brighton Golf Course. Ricky Shotwell also shot a 38 for East (12-1 NFL) while Mike Davern and Chuckie Panetinto chipped in a pair of 39s. West falls to 2-11 on the year.

Lew-Port 280, Niagara Falls 297

Medalist James Spanbauer's 43 wasn't enough to lift the Wolverines (0-13) over the Lancers (4-9 NFL) at Frontier Country Club.

Lockport 254, Grand Island 267

Aaron Schauger's even-par 36 at Lockport Town and Country Club led the way, despite the Vikings' (7-6 NFL) loss. Kevin Borowicz also chipped in a 37 while Jacob Sweeney shot a 41. J.J. Napoli led the way for the Lions (11-2 NFL) with his 40 and Evan Williams and Joe Quirk added a 41 and 42, respectively.

Nia.-Wheatfield 260, North Tonawanda 271

Medalist Zach Dubuc shot a 40 and Noah Wrazen added a 42 to help the Falcons improve to 10-3 at Deerwood. Alex Behr and Devin Donohue each had a 41 for the Lumberjacks (6-7 NFL).

GIRLS TENNIS

Starpoint 4, Hamburg 1

Paulina Masailo and Jasmine Mott each won in first and second singles, respectively, and the Spartans (8-1 ECIC II) swept Hamburg in doubles play to earn the league win.

Grand Island 4, Ken West 1

Mia Villani, Annie Corrao and Zaineb Khawar helped the Vikings sweep singles play and improve to 8-3. Audrey Filey and Rachel Pera won in first doubles to lead the Blue Devils (4-8 NFL).

Niagara Falls 3, North Tonawanda 2

Carli Leo won the deciding match in third singles in three sets to earn her fourth win on the season and help the Wolverines (4-7 NFL) to their first road win. The Falls also swept doubles play while Gretchen Wringler and Jessica Robbins won in first and second singles, respectively, to lead the Lady Jacks (4-7 NFL).
