WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: ’Blazers advance to NJCAA

Margo Pagano was named the most valuable player as the NCCC women’s volleyball team captured the Region III title on Sunday, advancing to the NJCAA Tournament in the process.

In a 25-14, 25-13, 25-18 semifinal victory over Monroe, Kathie Kreppenneck had 29 assists and Pagano added 11 kills and 19 digs. The Trailblazers (27-8), then beat Jamestown CC by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-19 as Ashley Berry (Starpoint) had 14 kills, Kreppenneck had 29 assists and Kari Seabert (Wilson) added 10 kills.

Kreppenneck and Berry were both named to the all-tournament team.

With the win, NCCC advances to the NJCAA Tournament in Rochester, Minn., starting on Nov. 12.

“We’re just so proud of our team,” assistant coach Jill Faddoul said. “They’ve worked their butts off and they deserve this.”
