New bucket truck tackles fallen tree
The city’s new $142,000 bucket truck had a busy first day on the job Monday.
Forestry workers were called to the 700 block of Spruce Avenue at 7:45 a.m., after gusts of winds up to 45 mph forced a 60-foot tree to fall over and crash onto a house. The accident caused damage to part of the home’s roof and a vehicle parked in the driveway.
No injuries were reported and damage estimates were not available.
Using the new bucket truck, workers were able to cut the tree into pieces and remove it from the house. The truck, which can trim trees up to 75-feet tall, was recently purchased as part of a $7.6 million capital project paid for by the city’s share of casino revenue.
