The Memorial Park Neighborhood Block Club held its 12th annual Joe Kirchue Christmas Light Contest on Dec. 13. First place winners were residents of 495 Portage Road and 611 Ninth St.; second place, residents of 540 12th St.; and third place winners were residents of 1301 13th St., 464 13th St., and 449 Memorial Parkway.

- IN BRIEF: New bucket truck tackles fallen tree Forestry workers were called to the 700 block of Spruce Avenue at 7:45 a.m., after gusts of winds up to 45 mph forced a 60-foot tree to fall over and crash onto a house. The accident caused damage to part of the home’s roof and a vehicle parked in the driveway.
